Dear Sebastian,
We are so happy to share with you that our amazing family Galapagos Cruise adventure was "over-the-top" fantastic! Learning of our "Christmas-and-Everything-Else" gift to our entire family at Thanksgiving, we all shared great excitement about this journey. From your many planning contacts with Andy, to our daily expeditionary preparation communications with Jorge, our superlative Naturalist Guide, and our awesome daily expeditions, we were all "wowed" and simply delighted by our personal and familial experiences of these islands and their numerous treasures!
Our Quito Guide, Jorge, was personable, accommodating and so knowledgeable, while acclimating us to Ecuador. He gave us a wonderful summary of, and entrance to some of Quito's special treasures...the cable car experience, visit to the iconic and fun outdoor equatorial museum, and the astonishing gold-filled Cathedral in the Old Town. Everyone was delighted by, and thoroughly enjoyed our special luncheon! Surprising us with regional gifts of chocolate, useful gaiters & locally-made bracelets, Jorge "set the stage" well for our coming islands adventure.
All of us loved our Galapagos Angel ship...its layout, spaciousness and unique "hang out" areas. Well-suited for the different ages of our family, from age 10 to age 82, it seemed perfectly outfitted for all of us! Our crew was absolutely wonderfully attentive, always pleasant, helpful and ready/able to meet our every need. We felt sorry that 10 of our 16 family members dealt with illness during the week...either seasickness or a norovirus...in spite of being prepared with, and taking appropriate medications. We know that sometimes happens and regret having it aboard your yacht. Crew members took extra care to clean areas of the boat that were used by everyone.
Our chefs, Washington and Omar, spoiled us with their menus, especially on New Year's Eve and for our final banquet dinner. Beautifully and artistically presented and well-prepared, we all felt well-indulged, with something special for everyone, including our grandchildren! The expedition support crew were always prepared to help us in every way, which eased the predictable chaos of preparing for each one! Tony was always there afterwards with just the right drink and "yummy" snacks to help us relax and rest!
Our superb Naturalist, Jorge, prepared us well before each expedition with clear instructions and a very inviting, motivating manner. His approach appealed to all ages...he was great with our grandchildren, becoming the knowledgeable "Pied Piper," who enticed them to follow him, as he filled us with fascinating information about each animal species we encountered! All of us remained amazed and awed by our new experiences each day. Jorge's obvious inspirational passion about his "paradise" was palpable and thoroughly enjoyed by all of us! We will create a Galapagos Island Adventure Memory book for our family using our Itinerary, amazing photos and written daily journal entries.
Our whole family was simply delighted and thrilled with our Galapagos Islands Expedition! We thank all of you who participated with us to make it happen.
Warmly,
Caroline and Andrew Dott
